Your new role

Join our dynamic team as a Home-Based Withdrawal (HBW) Nurse and help support people on their journey to recovery—right where they feel safest.

This isn’t your typical nursing job. You’ll be on the front line of community-based care, supporting clients through alcohol and other drug withdrawal in a non-residential, home environment. Every day is meaningful. Every interaction matters.

You’ll play a crucial role in guiding clients safely through withdrawal by:

  • Conducting clinical assessments and monitoring withdrawal symptoms
  • Supporting medication management and symptom stabilisation
  • Coordinating care with GPs, hospital teams, and mental health clinicians
  • Providing holistic, person-centred support for complex needs
  • Ensuring safe, effective withdrawal management outside a hospital setting.

Our Home-Based Withdrawal program is built on compassion, collaboration, and real outcomes:

  • Help clients reduce or cease substance use to restore health and wellbeing
  • Build a strong foundation for long-term recovery
  • Deliver step-up/step-down support pre- or post-residential treatment
  • Connect clients into a coordinated, integrated care pathway.

Your skills and experience 

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 with current AHPRA registration and, Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the core AOD competencies (or able to complete within the first 12 months of employment)
  • Competencies in mental health dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment).

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience or completion of a graduate year
  • Preferred - experience delivering a range of counselling modalities and treatment to clients accessing non-residential withdrawal services
  • Understanding and knowledge of the Alcohol and other drug sector and harm reduction methods and service delivery.
