We know that applying for a job can be daunting. We want you to feel comfortable so that you can put your best foot forward.
When you apply online for a position, you will be asked to upload your resume so make sure it is up-to-date and highlights your relevant skills and experience. Our application form is designed to be quick and device friendly so you can apply anywhere, anytime, easily.
Don’t delay in applying online! We often review applications as they come in and we may be in touch by phone for further information about your skills, motivations and qualifications.
We will invite you to interview if your application is progressing. This may be in person or online via Microsoft Teams. You may also be invited to attend a further interview or complete a task as part of our selection process.
Following your interview, you may be asked to provide details for two referees – ideally people you currently or previously reported to and who can tell us about your skills and experience.
If you’re right for us and we’re right for you, we will call you to offer the position. And if you accept, we will get you started on completing checks including Working Rights, National Police Check and Working with Children check.
Now that your pre-start checks are underway, we can prepare and send our formal offer of employment. Once you accept, we will initiative a number of onboarding activities to set you up for a great start at Uniting.
We’re thrilled you want to work at Uniting and look forward to your application.
For the best chance of success, make sure your application gives us an authentic idea of who you are, as well as important background information like your skills, experience and education.
Here are our key tips to help you put together the best application possible!

Come prepared with tangible examples of your work or situations you have faced related specifically to the position you’re interviewing for. It’s a great way to answer a question concisely and without getting side-tracked.
The STAR technique is a great way to respond to questions:
Situation / Task – Outline the real situation or task you faced, thinking about situations where you demonstrated your skills relevant to the position.
Action – what were the actions and steps you needed to take to achieve a great outcome? Who did you collaborate with and how did you work together?
Result – and what results did it lead to? Were you happy with the outcome? If not, what learnings do you have? What would you do differently if you had to do it again?
Don’t feel like you have to answer instantly - it’s okay to take a moment to calm your nerves and gather your thoughts. Simply pause, take a breath or have a sip of water and think of the most relevant example to best answer the question.
Uniting is a child safe organisation and is committed in everyday practice to always ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and vulnerable people. That’s why all staff are required to undergo checks before they start working with us.
This includes reference checks, satisfactory national (and international where relevant) police check and Working with Children Check (Victoria) or Working with Vulnerable People Check (Tasmania). We will obtain your consent prior to proceeding with any checks initiated by us.
When you are a member of our staff at Uniting, you will also need to complete child safety training and abide by our Child Safety Code of Conduct.
