Your new role

Ready to make a real difference in people’s lives? Join Step Thru Care, an innovative program supporting people with mental health and alcohol & other drug (AOD) needs across the Grampians region.

You’ll be the first point of contact for consumers entering the program, providing intake, assessment, and compassionate support using a trauma-informed, recovery-focused approach.

You’ll work across a stepped care model, helping people access the right level of support at the right time, including:

  • AOD Services
  • Low-Intensity Mental Health Support
  • Structured Therapies
  • High-Intensity Care & Coordination

Your skills and experience 
  • Highly desirable - Tertiary Level Qualifications i.e. Social Work, Psychologist, Counselling, Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapy with current registration with one of the following professional bodies-

- Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)

- Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

- Psychotherapy And Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)

- Australian Counselling Association (ACA)

  • Minimum - Certificate IV in Mental Health and/or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Peer Work, Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent

Experience

  • Preferred - Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role with Sound knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles of Mental Health and/or AOD recovery support, gained through experience, education and/or training.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements related to Community Mental Health and/or AOD services.
  • Delivery of services that improve the outcomes for consumers with a mental health condition
  • Providing early intervention strategies and case management
  • Ability to embed a lived experience in service delivery as a Peer worker (optional)
  • Experience in completing Mental health assessments and measures, including suicide assessments at intervals as required by the Step thru Care program.
