About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Worker to join our Homelessness Support Services Program based at Blackburn, on a permanent full-time basis. The program delivers a range of support services to individuals and families who are homeless, or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

As a Senior Worker, you will work in partnership with the Team Leader to provide effective leadership support to a committed team. The role will carry a reduced case load of clients and will be responsible for providing formal supervision and mentoring support to team members and students. The role will also be expected to assist with training and inducting new team members. The Senior Worker will contribute to the overall development of the program and promote high quality service delivery.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Diploma (or higher) qualification in community services, social work, welfare work or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated case management experience within the housing and homelessness services sector
  • An understanding of relevant regulations and legislation including the Victorian Residential Tenancies Act
  • Previous experience providing mentoring support to staff or students
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships and foster a positive team culture
