Your new role

As Senior Practitioner Parenting Assessment & Skills Development Service you will oversees the Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Program (PASDS). This program uses an evidence-based framework to assess parents and caregivers ability to safely care for to children aged 0 - 2 years and provides an opportunity to develop skills if required. You will need well developed knowledge of infant development, attachment theory and infant mental health.

You will have to demonstrate experience working under the evidence-based programs and ensure fidelity to evidence-based models.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development/ Community Welfare, or other equivalent

  • Current driver’s licence valid in Victoria
  • Ability to work flexible hours – Work hours are 9am -5:06pm, but this role will require some flexibility to provide outreach appointments outside of business hours to meet the needs of consumers.
  • Excellent knowledge of a range of theoretical approaches relevant to working with infants, children, young people and families, including but not limited to attachment theory, trauma informed practice and infant mental health and child development
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent understanding of the legislative requirements of the Children, Youth and Families Act as it affects family services particularly the “Best Interests” framework, information sharing provisions and the child protection system..
