Your new role
We have an exciting opportunity for a number of social workers to join our Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Service (PASDS) Program. The Program provides parenting capacity assessments for vulnerable families with infants under the age of 3 years, who are involved with Child Protection. The program delivers intensive skill development interventions to families to address the infant’s developmental, safety and wellbeing needs..
In a typical day, as a Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Service Case Worker you will:
Provide intensive case management and innovative outreach support
Undertake in-home assessments
Develop creative interventions tailored to the family’s level of skill, learning style and areas of concern
Prepare high quality reports for Child Protection and Courts

Your skills and experience
To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, and have the relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development/ Community Welfare, or other equivalent
You will also have:
Current drivers license valid in Victoria
Ability to work flexible hours – Work hours are 9am -5:06pm, but this role will require some flexibility to provide outreach appointments outside of business hours to meet the needs of consumers.
Excellent knowledge of a range of theoretical approaches relevant to working with infants, children, young people and families, including but not limited to attachment theory, trauma informed practice and infant mental health and child development
Excellent report writing skills
Excellent understanding of the legislative requirements of the Children, Youth and Families Act as it affects family services particularly the “Best Interests” framework, information sharing provisions and the child protection system.
