Your new role

Facilitate uplifting, inclusive groups for LGBTIQA+ young people in Greater Shepparton.

As the Program Facilitator for Being Our Best Brave, you’ll create uplifting, safe and inclusive spaces where LGBTIQA+ young people (12–18 years) in Greater Shepparton can build confidence, connection and wellbeing.

You’ll deliver interactive, strengths-based workshops and activities that support young people to explore their identity, build peer relationships and strengthen their vocational and educational pathways.

Working closely with the Youth Services team, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping a positive, empowering experience for young people while championing visibility, inclusion and belonging.

Benefits of working at Uniting

The role is part-time (15.2 hours per week) and funded for a maximum term of 2 years. We are flexible on days, except for Tuesday, when we all get together in the office. We’d also consider shorter hours across three days if that works better for you.

In addition to a base salary of SCHADS Level 3 from $38.65 per hour + super, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading, and can access the following:

Your skills and experience
  • Understanding of the experiences and well-being needs of LGBTIQA+ young people.
  • Experience facilitating youth groups or workshops or transferable skills with willingness to learn.
  • Ability to create safe, inclusive, trauma-informed group environments that celebrate diversity.
  • Strong communication, rapport-building and youth engagement skills.
  • Effective administrative skills to record attendance, notes and participant feedback.
  • Commitment to child safety, inclusive practice and alignment with Uniting’s values.
  • Lived experience as an LGBTIQA+ person (desirable but not essential).
  • A relevant qualification (Cert/Diploma) or equivalent experience
  • A driver’s licence valid in Victoria
