Your new role

The Kinship Care First Supports Program supports new statutory kinship care placements expected to last longer than three months. It provides timely assessment, identifies the needs of children and carers, connects families with services, and offers flexible brokerage of up to $1,000 to help establish placements.

As a Kinship First Supports and Case Contracting Manager, you will hold a mixed caseload, supporting new and stable kinship placements. You will help identify kinship networks early, strengthen reunification where appropriate, promote placement quality and stability, and support children and young people to thrive in kinship care. You will also undertake case contracting responsibilities for clients contracted to Uniting.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a post-secondary qualification in social work, welfare work or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families with complex needs
  • An understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and Best Interests Framework
  • An understanding of the out of home care and child protection systems and knowledge of the resources and services available in the Gippsland region
  • Strong risk assessment skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
