Your new role

Help empower LGBTIQA+ young people in Greater Shepparton to thrive.

Working as part of our Youth Services team, you’ll shape a program that reflects youth voice, creates safe and inclusive spaces, and supports participants in strengthening their wellbeing, education, and future pathways.

You’ll also partner closely with the Team Lead to monitor program outcomes and share the impact this work has across the community. If you’re passionate about LGBTIQA+ inclusion, youth empowerment and creating real change, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits of working at Uniting

The role is part-time (15.2 hours per week) and funded for a maximum term of 2 years. We are flexible on days, except for Tuesday, when we all get together in the office. We’d also consider shorter hours across three days if that works better for you.

In addition to a base salary of SCHADS Level 5 from $51 per hour + super, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading, and can access the following:

  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits that can be used for living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing and streaming services.
  • Increase your annual leave entitlements through our purchase leave program.
  • Up to 10 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers (4 for secondary).
  • Access training and development opportunities to help you grow.
  • Opt in or out of public holidays and be respected for your unique background.
Your skills and experience
  • An understanding of LGBTIQA+ young people’s needs, experience in designing/coordinating youth or community programs, and ability to incorporate youth voice into program content.
  • Strong stakeholder relationships across schools and services, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide facilitators, volunteers or peer leaders.
  • Strong organisational skills, experience in monitoring program quality, collecting feedback and preparing reports.
  • Commitment to inclusive, culturally safe practice and alignment with Uniting’s values
  • A strong child-safety focus and the ability to create safe environments for young people
  • Relevant qualification (or equivalent experience) and a current Victorian driver’s licence
