About the opportunity

We're seeking a qualified professional to support individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. The role involves conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based counselling to reduce AOD-related harm, support behaviour change, and promote recovery. The position may also include providing supervision to colleagues.

Your skills and experience

You will hold a tertiary qualification in a health or welfare related discipline. You will also bring with you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health or welfare, such as:
    • Social Work
    • Psychology
    • Nursing
    • Allied Health Sciences
    • Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or completion of core AOD competencies (or ability to complete within 24 months of employment).
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities.
  • Understanding of systemic issues (e.g. racism, colonialism).
  • AOD or dual diagnosis counselling experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of therapies such as:
    • CBT
    • MET
    • Harm Reduction
    • Trauma-Informed Practice
    • Narrative Therapy
    • Family Inclusive Practice
    • Community Reinforcement
