Your new role

As the Youth Group Facilitator, you will support the delivery of Uniting’s Diversity Project Youth Group by creating safe, inclusive, and engaging spaces for LGBTIQA+ young people and those exploring gender, sexuality, and identity.

Working from a youth-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach, you will facilitate group programs that promote wellbeing, social connection, resilience, and community participation.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering group activities that support young people to build confidence, develop positive peer relationships, and access appropriate supports in collaboration with other program staff.

Your skills and experience
  • Qualification (e.g. Certificate or Diploma) in a relevant discipline OR equivalent skills and experience in program coordination.
  • Current Victorian driver's licence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the experiences, barriers and wellbeing needs of LGBTIQA+ young people.
  • Experience facilitating youth groups, workshops or community activities in a strengths-based way OR have appropriate willingness to learn with relevant transferable skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create safe, respectful and inclusive group environments that celebrate diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to different group dynamics, with a trauma-informed youth-led lens.
  • Lived experience as an LGBTIQA+ person would be desirable but not essential.
