Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Family Services Practitioner to join our Family Services team based at Cranbourne on a full time, ongoing basis. The Family Services Program supports families who are experiencing high levels of stress and difficulties that impact on parenting, family life and children’s well-being. Responding to referrals from The Orange Door, the program provides assertive outreach and home-based supports.

As a Senior Family Services Practitioner, you will provide intensive case management support to families who present with a range of complex issues. The role will undertake risk and needs assessments of children and families, and develop client focused Family Action Plans and Safety Plans. Working collaboratively with Child Protection, the Senior Practitioner will support families to enhance parenting capacity, family functioning and promote child safety.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant degree qualification in social work, psychology or a related discipline.

  • Considerable experience within the child, youth and family welfare sector
  • Sound understanding of the Best Interests Framework and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
  • Proven ability to engage hard-to-reach families through assertive outreach
  • A strengths-based, child-centered approach to case management
  • Well-developed risk assessment and risk management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
