Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Private Rental Assistance Program Worker to join our Homelessness Support Services Program. The program delivers a range of support services to individuals and families who are homeless, or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

You will assist clients to access, obtain and maintain private rental through support, information provision and the provision of brokerage services with the private sector rental market.=

Some of your daily tasks would include

  • Support clients to access private rental. This may include completing private rental application forms, gathering appropriate documentation, accompanying clients to inspections
  • Provide information, advocacy and support to clients who secure private rental and respond to requests for support from clients and Real estate agents;
  • Identify opportunities for share housing to assist singles to access affordable private rental
  • Refer clients to other relevant programs

Your skills and experience

You will meet the person specification in the position description, including having  diploma in Community Services, Welfare or related disciplines. A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline will be desirable

  •  

You will bring:

  • Valid and current Driver’s License
  • 12 months' experience in the community service field
  • Demonstrated experience in running workshops and presentations to external parties
  • Experience in providing information and advice to clients on financial management issues and strategies including budgeting, managing credit and reducing expenditure and debt
  • Experience in working within the housing and/or homelessness sector
