Your new role

You’ll provide strategic, people-focused leadership across Uniting’s Tasmanian early learning services, ensuring safe, high-quality, and consistent operations that meet the needs of children, families and communities.

This role is less about being an early learning specialist and more about how you lead. You will bring strong operational thinking, problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset to support Centre Directors and Service Leaders.

You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of services, meeting leaders where they are at. You will guide decision-making, support risk and compliance requirements, strengthen team culture, and resolve issues with a calm, solutions-focused approach.

This is a parental leave cover (approximately 9 months), but Early Learning is a growing division, and for the right person, future opportunities may emerge.

Benefits of working at Uniting

  • Flexible work options, hybrid working and supportive leadership.
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits that can be used for living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing and streaming services.
  • Save on dining out and drinks with a meal entertainment benefit of $2,650 annually.
  • Opt in or out of public holidays and be respected for your unique background.
  • A warm values-led culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion.
  • Opportunities for ongoing development and future roles as the division grows

Your skills and experience

Early learning qualifications or technical expertise are not required; strong leadership and operational capability are what matter most.

You’ll thrive here if you are:

  • A strong people leader who builds trust, confidence and accountability in multi-site teams.
  • A flexible communicator who adapts your style to suit different audiences, from frontline educators to senior leaders.
  • A relationship-builder who is solutions-focused and enjoys untangling complexity.
  • Experienced in managing operations in a service-based, regulated or complex environment (e.g., early learning, schools, health, community services, aged care, or similar).
  • Highly organised, confident with systems, and able to support teams to meet compliance and quality requirements.
  • Values-aligned, child-safe, and committed to inclusive practice.
