Your new role

In a typical day as a Family Services Practitioner, you might:

  • Use a creative approach to arrange a visit with a reluctant new family
  • Build rapport to carry out a strengths and risk assessment in the client’s home or child’s school
  • Review with your supervisor plans to support a family’s goals
  • Consult with Child Protection
  • Discuss a difficult case with your team members in a Reflective Practice meeting
About the program

The Family Services Program supports families who are experiencing high levels of stress and difficulties that impact on parenting, family life and children’s well being. Responding to referrals from The Orange Door, the program provides assertive outreach and home based supports.

Your skills and experience

You will bring with you:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Disability Studies or Allied Health professions, or equivalent qualifications with demonstrated industry experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate Level 2
  • Current Drivers Licence valid in Victoria
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
  • Knowledge of principles of community inclusion and participation, with experience in delivering a response or project as a result to a community need or service gap.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing community and/or health assessments using a strengths-based approach, and development of associated care plans.
