At Uniting, every child matters — and so does every team member. Through our Kindergarten Inclusion Support (KIS) program, we work alongside early childhood educators to create inclusive learning environments where all children, including those with additional needs, can thrive.

We’re always looking for passionate people to join us in this important work.

What is an Additional Assistant?

Additional Assistants play a vital role in creating inclusive kindergarten environments where every child can thrive.

Funded through the Victorian Government’s Kindergarten Inclusion Support (KIS) program, Additional Assistants work alongside educators to support the meaningful participation of children with disability or complex needs. Their focus isn’t on one child alone—instead, they help foster inclusive practices that benefit the whole group, ensuring all children feel valued and supported.

At Uniting, Additional Assistants are:

  • Part of the teaching team, supporting the delivery of inclusive, high-quality early childhood programs.
  • Flexible and collaborative, working under the guidance of the lead educator to support children’s needs and promote positive outcomes.
  • Trained and empathetic, bringing a deep understanding of inclusive practices and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusion, and who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
