Shifts are currently available in Berwick, Collingwood, Craigieburn, Glen Iris, Hadfield, Lysterfield, Port Melbourne and Thornbury.

Your new role

Looking for meaningful Early Learning work that fits around family or other commitments? Or perhaps you’re an experienced educator seeking greater flexibility and variety? Join Uniting’s casual educator pool and bring your skills to services across metropolitan Melbourne.

As a casual educator, you’ll step into different teams and help provide safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments. You’ll quickly become part of the room, working alongside educators to respond to children’s interests, routines and individual needs.

Your impact will include:

• Building warm and responsive relationships with children.
• Supporting play-based learning and children’s agency and participation.
• Contributing to observations, planning and documentation as required.
• Working collaboratively and adapting to different services and routines.
• Promoting children’s safety, wellbeing, inclusion and sense of belonging.

You’ll tell us which days and locations work for you, and shifts will be offered based on service needs and your availability. Casual shifts are generally full days and may fall between 8:00am and 5:00pm and primarily support sessional kindergarten services, with some opportunities to work across long day care settings.

Your skills and experience

You’re a qualified educator who can quickly understand what a new team needs, build relationships with children and contribute confidently without expecting every service to work in the same way.

You will bring:

• An ACECQA-approved Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Experience working in a kindergarten or other early childhood setting.
• A child-centred approach and sound understanding of learning and development.
• The ability to adapt, communicate and contribute positively within different teams.
• Current National Child Safety Training and any applicable state-based Child Safety Training (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
