Your new role

As part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, you’ll play a vital role in supporting adults in Victoria who are experiencing mental health or wellbeing challenges. In this role, you will provide psychological interventions for people living within the Ballarat Goldfield region, who have been diagnosed with a mental illness or are at risk of developing a mental illness and require adjustment support.

In this role, you will provide clinical assessment to clients, develop and provide individually tailored treatment plans that are based on assessment and risk factors, that are evidence based/best practice to enhance the person’s recovery and improve their quality of life.

Your skills and experience
  • Relevant professional qualifications for credentialed mental health clinician (counselors, psychologists, nursing, social work or occupational therapy); with appropriate registration from industry governing body:
    • Registered Counsellor Level 3 with Australia Counselling Association (ACA) or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
    • Mental Health Nurses; Clinical Psychologists; Psychologists require current registration
    • with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
    • Social Workers are required to be certified members of Australian Association of Social
    • Workers (AASW)
    • Occupational Therapists require current registration with AHPRA, and accreditation as having minimum 2 years’ experience in mental health by Occupational Therapy Australia.
  • post-registration experience with advanced skills and a demonstrated commitment to delivering evidence-based, client- and family-inclusive treatments for people with significant mental disorders.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive clinical risk assessments (including suicide and self-harm) and develop effective management and safety plans.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to community mental health, including MARAM, FVISS, and CISS frameworks for information sharing and risk management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary evidence-based treatments for mental health, particularly therapies suited to older adults, with the ability to adapt interventions to individual needs.
