Your new role

The Mental Health Practitioner supports the wellbeing of young people and their families by delivering holistic, culturally responsive, and accessible mental health services that promote social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.

Working under the supervision of the Team Leader, Clinical Services, the practitioner is a key member of the headspace Horsham team, providing counselling, case management, and community-based support across the Wimmera region through centre-based services, outreach, and telehealth.

Your skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy), or currently studying toward one, or equivalent
  • Full or student registration with AHPRA, or full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Proven experience supporting young people through both individual and group-based interventions
  • Experience working with young people experiencing severe and complex mental health challenges, including suicide risk and violence
  • Demonstrated skills in intake and assessment, case management, and counselling to promote positive mental health and wellbeing
