Your new role

The Victorian Family Preservation and Reunification (FPR) Response is an evidence-based program designed to work closely with children and families to prevent at-risk children from entering or returning to out-of-home care. It provides rapid, intensive, and sustained support by building on existing child and family services, creating a stronger and more connected system of care. The goal is to improve outcomes for families through better support and measurable results.

The program focuses on children who are especially vulnerable, including those with unborn Child Protection reports, children aged 0–5, and adolescents aged 10–14 with multiple Child Protection reports or orders. Risk factors include early reports to Child Protection, disabilities affecting care, and challenging behaviours. Parental risk factors may include a history of being in care, young age, mental health issues, substance use, and family violence.

You will play a key role by using a strengths-based, culturally safe, and family-centred approach that includes intensive assessment, safety planning, parenting strategies, and collaboration with partner agencies to support resilience and self-determination.
